Hi Everyone I’ll be taking a break for the Christmas time so this will be my last post for about a week!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to those who don’t celebrate christmas!
Set in a dark vision of the near future, a terrifying reality TV show is taking place.
Twelve boys and twelve girls are forced to appear in a live event called The Hunger Games.
There is only one rule: kill or be killed.
When sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen steps forward to take her younger sister’s place in the games, she sees it as a death sentence.
But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.
I’m pretty sure most people have heard of the hunger games trilogy by now, but I have never read it and really enjoyed the films when I watched them ages ago but couldn’t quite remember what happens in them, so I thought that I’ll read them and then watch the films to compare against them.
I don’t honestly know what to expect when I picked up the first in the series, and honestly to my delight they kept pretty close to the story, only changing minor details in the movie, which I really appreciated, and in my opinion, the casting was pretty damn good!
I did find the book to be more emotional than the film though especially when Katniss takes Prims place as tribute, but I think what got me most was Rue. That scene broke my heart and I actually got tears in my eyes.
I do find Katniss to be a little self-centered, which was quite annoying. There were times when I just wanted to tell her to shut up and listen to Peeta and Haymitch, but it’s like she thought everyone was out to get her and it was all about her. I did feel really bad for Peeta because he is genuinly in love with Katniss but it seems that she is just leading him on. But then on the other hand I really wanted Peeta to grow up, I know that they are only 16ish but still. But again Katniss needs to accept that they went through this traumatic event together and only Peeta and Haymitch understand what it’s like to go through it.
