Nine Perfect Strangers – Liane Moriarty – Bookrush 7

Trigger warning for suicide

Blurb:
Nine perfect strangers, each hiding an imperfect life.

A luxury retreat cut off from the outside world.

Ten days that promise to change your life.

But some promises – like some lives – are perfect lies . . .

My Thoughts
This book takes place in Tranquillium House, advertised as a health retreat where you will come out ‘transformed’. We follow nine strangers as they enter and each have their own experiences. Each chapter is from a different persons perspective as they take their journey. The person we hear mainly from is Frances, a romance author who is there to get some balance back in her life.

I was really excited to start reading this book because I saw so many great things about it, but I was actually a little disappointed. For me it was mainly the pace of the first half of the book was just a little slow and I couldn’t really see where it was going.

What I really liked about hearing from each of the characters, was that there is more to them than what we can see form the outside. They all have their insecurities and reasons for being at Tranquillium House.

  1. Ooh I have this on my TBR and I’m both intrigued and intimidated by your review. I definitely prefer fast paced books but at the same time it sounds really interesting? If you went back in time, would you still choose to read it?
